What is the Top Table and how can you leverage it in your favor?

The idea of the top table has been used by many people in many different forms. This is one simple way that a bar owner used the Top Table to be his only prize.

The Top Table is normally a prized location. It is the table that teams would choose, if they could sit anywhere. Maybe it is handy to the bar, or it is easier to hear the quiz questions, or it is has a good view of the venue. Whatever the reason it is a favored position. If your patrons are in the habit of booking tables then the Top Table concept works even better.

The way it works: besides normal prizing the team that wins the quiz one week gets the right to sit at the Top Table the following week. They win the bragging rights.

It is a simple concept and depending on how much demand the table is under the Top Table prize can have a lot value at no cost.

Taken a step further, one bar owner made the Top Table the only prize for the winning team.

How did he do it?

He simply approached a local vineyard and a local Cheese-maker. He got them to sponsor the event in return for some advertising on the Welcome pages given to each team at the start of the night and of course a mention of their products during the night. The prize for the winning team became the right to sit at the top table supplied with wine from the vineyard and a cheese platter.

You may not have a vineyard or a Cheese-maker in your area, but you can approach any suppliers, a local butcher instead of a Cheese-maker for instance. There are always options, you just have to find what's in your area and make the approach.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

The Top Table - Its simple to implement and costs you nothing.
